This evening we will, quite rightly, thank the NHS workers for all they are doing.
As the 8 o’clock applause fades may we hold in prayer others in the front line:
The care home night workers, beginning another shift;
The school staff reaching out to ‘their’ vulnerable children and their families;
Those who will answer the phone lines for Childline or the Samaritans;
Social workers struggling to reach those behind locked doors;
The police officer called to another ‘domestic’ incident;
Community support workers trying to hold together their web of connections;
The local charity coordinator finding the well of support, financial and otherwise, has run dry.
For all who give of themselves day by day, and night after night, we offer our heartfelt thanks.
